Article points out that throughout the world, AIDS has leveled off or actually diminished outside of Sub-Saharan Africa. The article goes on to say that if they weren’t such dirty sex-obsessed animals, then they wouldn’t be in this mess.
Oh, here’s a concept— they have no money for sex education, no money for condoms, no money for testing, no money for treatment. Top it off with clueless and ineffectual government, and you have a recipe for an epidemic, quite aside from cultural aspects.
I mean, fuck the cultural elements— you can have a sexual people without everyone up and dying of AIDS. Hell, look at the porn industry. That’s an awful lot of unprotected sex for the super low amount of HIV floating around. Of course, much of the most Aids-infested parts of Africa happen to be among the world’s worst places to be a woman, with the constant threat of sexual assault hanging over their heads, with very little education or freedom of self-determination for anyone, with violence an unavoidable part of daily life. Yes, there are many sex workers, as you would expect of any such economic environment, but the real tragedy is their lack of sufficient power to require condom use of their clients.
Sex worker unions would have a significant positive impact. The problem, of course, is that they have no access to funds, since all organizations receiving US aid must hold to a strict anti-prostitution policy.
Before it’s over, the culture of many African countries will irrevocably change. It’s gonna be a damn hard time ahead.
Conspiracy theorists suggest that HIV was specifically designed by the US Gov’t to target Africans and other ‘undesirables’. The nice thing about conspiracies is that they’re just plausible enough to make you wonder…
